About SGUK

SafeGuards Uk was set up in 2011 by Dave Thurgood. Having been a lifeguard for over 18 years and holding HSE recognised First Aid awards, Dave decided he wanted to share his lifeguarding skills and knowledge and the vast First Aid experience he had acquired over this time.  After successfully passing as a Trainer and Assessor in both fields within a 12 month period, Dave set up SGUK. The name SGUK was chosen, as the key objective of the company was to ‘Safeguard people’. This not only refers to the casualty, but to the First Aider/ Rescuer too.

SGUK was formed to help promote the two skills of First Aid and Lifesaving to the highest degree; this has been recognised by a leading pharmaceutical company who have used  SGUK to train their First Aiders to compete in nationwide competitions.

To date, SGUK can run over 50 courses and create bespoke training sessions to suit individual needs.
